The Paper Compass Press started with a gift for two nephews and a story that turned into something bigger than I expected.
I wrote Bandit and the Golden Egg as an Easter present, never imagining it would land in two of Amazon's Top 100 lists or that strangers would tell me their kids asked for it again and again at bedtime. That moment changed something for me. I realized a good story with a real lesson, told with warmth and a little mischief, is one of the best gifts you can put in a child's hands.
That's what Paper Compass Press is built on. Stories that help kids navigate friendship, mistakes, and growing up, with characters who feel like real friends rather than lessons in disguise. Bandit is just the start. There's a whole gang of furry characters with stories still to tell.
If you're a parent looking for a book that's fun on the surface and meaningful inside, you're in the right place.
If you're a writer wondering how someone with no formal training pulled this off, that's where The Creator's Studio comes in. I built The Picture Book System, a set of how-to guides that walk you through everything from your first rough draft to a finished, published book, including how I used AI tools for illustrations. I wrote these guides the way I wish someone had written them for me: like a real conversation, not a textbook.
I'm not a trained author or a professional illustrator. I'm just someone who had a story worth telling and figured out how to tell it. If I can do it, you can too.
